hiring a Certified Aquascape Contractor
Being a Certified Aquascape Contractor matters. It confirms that we follow a proven methodology rooted in natural design—systems that function the way nature intended. At Aquascape Creations, we value that approach and apply it to every project we build.
That foundation reflects our commitment to:
That said, certification alone is not the standard we hold ourselves to.
Our work goes further. Ongoing education, real-world testing, and continuous refinement are part of how we operate. We train year-round, internally and alongside industry peers across the U.S. and abroad. We study what works, learn from what fails, and adjust our methods based on field results—not theory.
We maintain our own internal standards, develop techniques shaped by experience, and invest heavily in our team’s knowledge and performance. Products are never installed based on branding alone; they are tested, evaluated, and proven before we bring them into a client’s property.
For us, being a Certified Aquascape Contractor is not a label—it’s a baseline. The real value comes from how that knowledge is applied, challenged, and improved on every project we take on.
Choosing a CAC means you are working with a contractor who:
Our passion for creating stunning water features began in New York, where we first earned our Certified Aquascape Contractor (CAC) status. After relocating to the Bay Area and continuing our work, we proudly recommitted ourselves to the certification process, reaffirming our dedication to delivering exceptional craftsmanship and expertise to every project.
Certification is important, but it’s our hands-on experience that truly sets us apart. We’ve been involved in large and complex projects across the United States and internationally. These opportunities have allowed us to learn advanced techniques, collaborate with skilled professionals, and tackle challenging issues. This experience gives us a unique edge when it comes to offering high-quality water feature services in the Bay Area.
We were hired to collaborate in this one of a kind project by our friend Alan Decker from Deckers Ponds in Mexico, this location is just amazing and the project turned up to be one of a kind, we worked almost non stop for 3 weeks to make this possible.
This pondless measures 15′ long varying in widths from 2′ to 6′ with 2′ elevation, we used large machine size boulders varying from 50lbs to 500lbs.
We also added a stacked sphere to add elevation and interest tho this feature.
At night this waterfall will look even better
As certified Aquascape contractors, we take great pride in using their high-quality components. For this project, we incorporated the Aquascape Pondless Vault, which houses two pumps. We specifically chose the Aquascape Aquasurge Pump Series for their reliability and cost-efficient operation, ensuring optimal performance with minimal energy consumption.
Our liner is a durable 45mil EPDM, and we always use an underlayment to protect both the liner and the substrate. The reservoir is made up of 10 large Aquascape Aquablox, which, when paired with the vault, provides a total volume of approximately 300 gallons.
This setup guarantees consistent water flow through the cascades at any setting. The pumps are fully adjustable, allowing for a range from a minimal flow to maximum capacity, giving you full control over the water feature.
Additionally, we installed an Aquascape Stacked Slate Sphere, adding a touch of elegance and natural beauty to the design.
A total of 7 tons of boulders were used to complete the project, creating a stunning and natural aesthetic.
In reality, this project went very smoothly, with no major issues. Since this is a brand-new development, our client had the foresight to plan the water feature before any other backyard installations, which made the process much more convenient for us.
The only initial challenge we faced was the proposed height of the feature. Our client originally envisioned something nearly as tall as the fence. However, based on our experience, we knew that would not be ideal for a backyard of this size and flat layout. To create the illusion of height, we incorporated the Aquascape Stacked Slate Sphere, which added visual height without overwhelming the space. Attempting to build a feature as tall as the fence would have resulted in a “volcano effect” water feature, which would not have suited the overall design.
The total cost for the water feature was $29,000, which included the lighting, the Aquascape Stacked Slate Sphere, an additional pump, Wi-Fi controllers, all necessary materials and components, as well as the electrical work to install an outlet nearby.
The project was completed in 5 days with a 4-man crew and the use of an excavator.
